TVG – TSV Riederich 3:6
Last weekend, the men's 40s also entered this year's association round. With the team from Riederich, our 40s were faced with a strong opponent, as is usual. In the first round of singles, Christian Zeller and Daniel Failenschmid each won their individual matches. Unfortunately, Michael Mai had to admit defeat, which meant that they temporarily had a 2:1 lead. In the second round, Thomas Hüttig and Johannes Voss had to admit defeat to the Riederich team. In Thomas Müller's thrilling top match, the game went back and forth over three sets until the match tiebreak. Here, after occasional match points, the opponent had the better end. The score after the singles was 2:4. In the final doubles, Johannes Voss and Thomas Müller unfortunately had to end the match after the first set due to persistent arm problems. After a close first set, Christian Zeller and Daniel Failenschmid also had to give up the second. Only Thomas Hüttig and Michael Mai were able to win the doubles, which led to the final score of 3:6.
TVG - TC Neuhausen 2 4:5
Im zweiten Heimspiel empfingen die Herren 40 am vergangenen Wochenende die Mannschaft aus Neuhausen. Bei angenehmem Tenniswetter ging es um 11.00 Uhr los. In der ersten Runde ging es in allen drei Spielen munter hin und her. Leider mussten sich Johannes Voss in zwei Sätzen, Michael Mai und Christian Zeller jeweils im Match-Tiebreak knapp geschlagen geben, was kräftig Druck aufbaute. Im zweiten Durchgang ging es dann anders herum. Thomas Müller und Daniel Failenschmid konnten sich jeweils in zwei Sätzen durchsetzen. Thomas Rosskopf behielt im Match-Tiebreak mit etwas Glück doch noch knapp die Überhand. Mit 3:3 ging es in die Doppel. Hier konnten sich allerdings nur Christian und Daniel durchsetzen, was zum Endstand von 4:5 führte. Die anschließenden Bewirtung durch die Damen-30-Mannschaft mit einem sehr leckeren Abendessen hob dann die etwas gedrückte Stimmung erheblich. Vielen Dank an unsere 30erinnen für die super Bewirtung.
Herren 40
TC Leinfelden-Echterdingen 2 - TVG 7:2
Zum ersten Auswärtspiel ging es für die 40er nach LE. Bei sommerlicher Hitze starteten die Einzel pünktlich im 14.00 Uhr. In der ersten Einzelrunde fing es ausrichts-reich an. Daniel Failenschmid und Jürgen Geray konnten ihre Spiele beide für sich entscheiden. Ein sehenswertes Spiel lieferte Andre Pitz, der sich allerdings in zwei Sätzen mit 4:6 und 3:6 geschlagen geben musste. Die zweite Runde der Einzel, die 3 x von Thomas bestritten wurde, brachte dann leider die Wende zu Gunsten der Gegner. Thomas Rosskopf musste sich völlig chancenlos 0:6/0:6, Thomas lx mit 2:6/2:6 und Thomas Müller mit 3:6/4:6 geschlagen geben.
Ergänzt durch Martin Schneider und Bernhard Adam ging es dann in die Doppel. Leider waren die Gegner aus LE auch hier nicht zu schlagen, was zum Endstand von 2:7 führte.
Nach einer erfrischenden Dusche und einer leckeren Pizzaauswahl ging der Spieltag zu Ende.
Zum letzten Spiel geht es am kommenden Wochenende nach Dettingen.
TC Dettingen/Teck - TVG 3:6
The last and decisive game of the current summer season for the men's 40s was in Dettingen/Teck. The aim was nothing less than to avoid the impending relegation.
Johannes Voss, Thomas Rosskopf and Daniel Failenschmid started. Johannes had a long and exciting match, which his opponent won after almost two hours. While Thomas lost clearly, Daniel was able to win again and thus ended the singles season undefeated. The score was 1:2. In the next round, Thomas lx was able to win. Christian Zeller and Thomas Müller both had to go into the match tiebreak in their games, but in the end both managed to win the games and increase the score to 4:2. This meant that they were still missing one doubles match to win and thus avoid relegation.
With Bernhard Adam as a complement, the final doubles match began. Benny Adam and Thomas Rosskopf in doubles 2 did well, but were clearly defeated by their superior opponents. In the top doubles match of Thomas Müller and Johannes Voss, the opponents from Dettingen unfortunately had to give up early on due to injury. With their victory, Thomas lx and Christian Zeller secured their first success of the season and thus their place in the league.
After a well-deserved beer and a shared dinner, we returned to Großbettlingen in the early evening, where the season was concluded in the clubhouse.
