After a half-day camp last year, this year, despite the pandemic, we were able to hold our tennis camp, which has been taking place for several years, in the first week of the holidays. Demand was higher this year than almost ever before and so we were all the more pleased to welcome 27 children between the ages of 6 and 14 to our facility on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. The children were divided into 5 groups according to ability and age so that everyone could receive the best possible support. After a joint warm-up at the beginning of the day with games - such as Brennball, seven-day races, tic tac toe or biathlon - the first training session was on the agenda. At the beginning of the camp, the focus was on basic strokes and strength training. On Wednesday and Thursday, more tennis games such as Lola Run, Mäxle or "Alien Tennis" were also included. At the end of each day, a joint final program was again on the agenda before the children cycled home or were picked up. Due to the slightly cooler temperatures, we were unable to set up our much-coveted pool this year, but the table tennis table and table football table provided some variety during the break. On Friday our final tournament was scheduled, where playing partners were randomly assigned. They competed against each other in doubles and were able to double their points from the tennis game in subsequent rounds. The group of "little" girls were able to challenge each other in an Olympics. The camp ended on Friday with the tournament award ceremony. We hope to be able to welcome many children who are not yet in our club to our facility in the future. This year there was an almost completely new care team, which worked well together despite the young age of between 15 and 23 and was able to give the kids a great camp.
Many thanks to Chiara, Eden, Jana, Laura, Lea, Linda, Pauline, Tobias, Sarah, Silke and Valerie for your efforts!
