3:6 1. Spieltag, 30 Grad und ein schweres Auswärtsspiel zum Auftakt für die Herren 1 vom TVG beim Aufstiegsaspiranten aus Pliezhausen. Für die dennoch hochmotivierten Großbettlinger spielten Luca Kleiß, Jannik Lia, Mike Kölbl, Marcel Müllerschön, Thomas Schulte-Wicking und Andreas Trissler. Jannik, Marcel und Andi starteten die erste Runde, und entgegen aller Erwartungen sah es nach den jeweils ersten Sätzen sehr gut aus. Sowohl Jannik als auch Andreas dominierten ihre Gegner und gewannen ihren ersten Satz mit 6:3 bzw. 6:1. Lediglich Marcel hatte im ersten Satz mit 5:7 das Nachsehen. Nach dieser ersten Zwischenbilanz waren nicht nur die Heimfans, sondern auch die Spieler aus Pliezhausen sichtlich erstaunt. Im zweiten Satz konnte sich Jannik weiter steigern, wuchs über sich hinaus und schoss seinen Gegner mit 6:0 vom Platz. Dieser war sichtlich frustriert und wusste nicht, wie ihm geschah. Nicht ganz so gut erging es Marcel, welcher sich trotz mehrerer Rückschläge immer wieder zurückkämpfen konnte, sich aber am Ende des zweiten Satzes mit 4:6 gegen seinen konstanten Kontrahenten geschlagen geben musste. Besonders spannend machte es Andi, welcher im zweiten Satz ein Zwischentief und auch einen aufstrebenden Gegner verarbeiten musste und dann mit 3:6 den Kürzen zog. Somit ging es in den Match-Tiebreak, welcher mit 10:8 zugunsten von Andi entschieden werden konnte. Eine wahre mentale Leistung des „Iceman“, welcher nicht umsonst so genannt wird und durch seinen wichtigen Punkt den unerwarteten 2:1-Zwischenstand klarmachte.

Now Luca, Mike and Thomas were also allowed to start the season. Luca had to deal with an up-and-coming young star who had been flown in from Croatia especially for the match day. Thanks to strong serves and a low error rate, Luca was able to hold his own very well and even had set balls in the first set, which he unfortunately could not use and had to give up 5:7. The second set was just as high-class and characterized by a high pace. But ultimately the second set was also lost 3:6. Mike got off to a very unfortunate start, his opponent played almost flawlessly and won the first set 6:0. Mike was able to fight his way back into the game with tactical changes, but it was not enough (second set 3:6). Thomas provided another moment of happiness for the Großbettlingen team, who was able to implement his strong training performance 1:1 and beat his opponent 6:1 and 6:3 with a powerful game. So the score was 3:3 after the singles - and that against the promotion favorites. Some of the fans who had traveled with them were positively surprised. Was a sensation even possible? With a lot of fighting spirit, determination and passion, Luca and Andi played in the singles doubles, Jannik and Thomas in the doubles and Mike and Marcel in the triples. It was very competitive on all courts, there were long rallies and close service games. But in the end it just wasn't meant to be, and so all three doubles (3:6/4:6, 4:6/6:7 and 4:6/3:6) had to be conceded, resulting in a 3:6 defeat. Admittedly, with the score at 3:3, it was a defeat that felt a bit strange given the course of the game. But in the end the favorites deserved to win.

Im ersten Heimspiel der Saison hatten es die Herren 1 vom TVG mit dem TC Rechberghausen-Birenbach zu tun. Die Gäste waren nach ihrem verlorenen Sai­sonauftakt ebenso hochmotiviert wie die Großbettlinger und reisten ebenso mit ei­nigen Auswärtsfans an. Bei angenehmen 24 Grad starteten zunächst Jannik Lia, Marcel Müllerschön und Andreas Trissler mit den Einzeln. Nachdem Jannik den ersten Satz unglücklich mit 6:7 abgeben musste, sicherte er sich durch eine tak­tische Meisterleistung zunächst mit 6:4 den zweiten Satz und im Anschluss mit 10:7 den Match-Tiebreak. Auch Marcel konnte dank einer soliden und konzent­rierten Leistung nach einem umkämpften 6:4 auch den zweiten Satz mit 6:2 für sich entscheiden. Lediglich Andreas musste sich trotz starker kämpferischer Leistung und eines kaum für möglich gehaltenen Comebacks am Ende mit 2:6, 7:5 und 8:10 geschlagen geben. Somit ging es mit einer 2:1-Führung in die 2. Einzelrunde. Luca Kleiß erwischte einen denkbar schlechten Start und gab den ersten Satz deutlich mit 0:6 ab. Trotz mehrerer taktischer Verände­rungen reichte es auch im zweiten Satz nicht. Dieser ging mit 4.6 verloren. Eben­so musste sich Mike in seinem Einzel mit 3:6 und 5:7 geschlagen geben - auch ihm gelang es nicht trotz Leistungssteigerung im im zweiten Satz gegen die konstant spielenden Gegner aus Rechberghausen nicht aus, das Blatt zu wenden. Deutlich besser erging es Tho­mas, welcher durch selbstbewusstes Auf­treten und starken Grundschlägen seinen Gegner nicht ins Spiel kommen ließ und deutlich mit 6:2 und 6:0 die Oberhand be­hielt. Somit ging es, wie auch schon letz­te Woche, mit 3:3 in die Doppel - und es wurde maximal spannend bis zur letzten Sekunde!

Thomas and Andreas played in doubles 3, and were clearly defeated 1:6 and 1:6, although the course of the game did not reflect the result. Jannik and Marcel played in doubles 2, and dominated the first set and won 6:1. The second set ended 3:6, as the guests played more forcefully and mostly without mistakes, so it went into the match tiebreak. Jannik and Marcel dominated this from the start until the score was 9:6. Three match points were missed, the guests played bravely. Nevertheless, Jannik and Marcel kept their nerve and won 11:9 in the end. The score was now 4:4 and the last doubles, doubles 1 with Luca and Mike, would decide victory or defeat. The first set was characterized by high tempo and long, hard-fought rallies and deservedly went to the Bettlingen boys 6:4. The second set went to the guests deservedly with 3:6 thanks to a consistent and powerful performance, so that the match went into the match tiebreak. This ended with some highly dramatic rallies with 6:10, so that shortly before 5 p.m. a bitter 4:5 defeat had become reality. Both the numerous spectators and all the Bettlingen players were visibly worn out. The men's 1 team would like to thank all the spectators for their great support and the entire catering team for the great food.

AmSonntag, 9.7.2023, mussten die Herren 1 vom TVG nach Albershausen reisen.  Bei tropischen 35 Grad starteten zunächst Luca Kleiß, Marcel Müllerschön und Andreas Trissler mit den Einzeln. Luca startete gut in das Spiel, haderte im Verlauf aber mit einigen unnötigen Fehlern und verlor daraufhin nicht nur die Kontrolle, sondern auch den ersten Satz. Leider konnte Luca im weite­ren Spielverlauf nicht an seine gewohnte Leistung anknüpfen, so dass am Ende ein 4:6/1:6 gegen einen gut aufspielenden Gegner zu Buche stand. Deutlich besser erging es Marcel, welcher seinen Gegner im ersten Satz druckvoll dominierte und diesen deutlich mit 6:0 für sich entschei­den konnte. Im zweiten Satz kam Marcels Gegner deutlich besser ins Spiel, konnte seine Klasse zeigen, welche jedoch am Ende nicht ausreichte. Marcel gewann den hart umkämpfen zweiten Durchgang mit 7:6. Ebenso konnte Andreas an sei­ne gute und konstante Saisonleistung anknüpfen. Mit 6:4 und 6:3 konnte Andi seinen Gegner durch lange und unange­nehme Ballwechsel in die Knie zwingen. Somit ging es zum dritten Mal in dieser Saison mit einer positiven 2:1-Führung in die 2. Einzelrunde. „Mati" Ezequiel auf Position 1 . Sein Einsatz machte sich bezahlt. In einem Match, was von hohem Tempo und extremen Laufwegen geprägt war, demoralisierte er seinen Gegner nach Strich und Faden und gewann das Spiel mit 6:0 und 6:4. Lediglich im zweiten Satz keimte aus Sicht der Gastgeber ein wenig Hoffnung auf, doch Mati blieb cool und sicherte mit all seiner Klasse den drit­ten Bettlinger Punkt.

Mindestens genau stark präsentierte sich Jannik, welcher sein Match dank einer überlegten und stets konzentrierten Leis­tung deutlich mit 6:1 und 6:1 gewann. Ei­nen schlechten Tag erwischte der bisher so konstante Thomas, welcher nicht nur mit seinem Gegner, sondern vielmehr noch mit der extremen Hitze zu kämpfen hatte und am Ende mit 2:6 und 2:6 den Kürzeren ziehen musste.  Nach dem 4:2-Zwischenstand wollten unsere Jungs mehr als nur das eine Doppel gewinnen. Da für Thomas nicht mehr weitergehen konnte, rückte Mike in den Spie­lerkader auf und spielte mit Andreas das Doppel 3. Glücklicherweise ohne Schmerzen und Einschränkungen konnte Mike das Doppel bestreiten. Mike und Andi verloren den ersten Satz unglücklich mit 6. Nach taktischer Änderung wendete sich das Blatt und Satz zwei ging mit 6:2 an die Bettlinger. Nach etlichen Führungswechseln endete der Matchtiebrack mit 7:10. Allerdings hielt der Frust bei Andi und Mike nur kurz an, da sowohl das Doppel 2 (Luca und Marcel), als auch das Doppel 1 (Mati und Jannik) dank einer jeweils starken Kol­lektivleistung ihre schwer zu spielenden Doppel gewinnen konnten. Das Doppel 1 gewann mit 7:5/6:3 und das Doppel 2 mit 6:3/6:3, so dass um 17.15 Uhr der 6:3-Auswärtssieg beschlossene Sachewar und jeder sich ein verdientes Kaltge­tränk genehmigen durfte. Der gesamte Zusammenhalt war an die­sem Tag einfach spitze und man konnte sich endlich für den Fleiß der vergange­nen Wochen verdient belohnen. Mit nun 1:2 Matchpunkten stehen die Bettlinger punktgleich mit drei weiteren Mann­schaften (Pliezhausen, Albershausen und Grötzingen), so dass der Abstiegskampf bis zum letzten Spieltag spannend bleibt.

On July 16, 2023, the local match against the slightly weakened TC Grötzingen was the last home game of the season for the TVG men's team. Both teams wanted to secure their place in the league early with a win and were accordingly motivated. They met at 9 a.m. to warm up and warm up. In pleasant temperatures, Luca Kleiß, Marcel Müllerschön and Andreas Trissler started with the singles. Luca started the game well and concentrated, but due to minor lack of concentration and several careless mistakes he had to give up the first set 5:7 after leading 5:2. But Luca shook himself off and, after a short period of frustration, was able to win the second set 6:0, so that it went into the match tiebreak. Luca's opponent cleverly changed his style of play and dominated the match tiebreak. In the end, it was lost 4:10 from Luca's point of view. Marcel fared much better, dominating his opponent in the first set and winning it clearly 6-0. Marcel's opponent did come into the game a little better in the second set, but the first Bettlingen point was never in danger. Marcel won the second set 6-3 in his experienced style. Andreas was also able to show his consistency again. Andi brought his opponent to his knees with 6-3 and 6-1, so that for the fourth time this season they went into the second singles round with a positive 2-1 lead. Matias Ezequiel, Jannik Lia and Thomas Schulte-Wicking were now allowed to get involved. "Mati" played for team captain Mike Kölbl, as he did in the previous away game in Albershausen. Mati left nothing to chance in his first home game. High speed, long runs and constant focus on the next point were the key to success. He won his singles match 6:2 and 6:3. Jannik then had to endure a really unusual course of play.

Jannik konnte den ersten Satz souverän mit 6:1 gewinnen, verlor danach jedoch die komplette Spannung und gab den zweiten Satz mit 0:6 ab. So etwas gibt es in der Tat nicht oft. Jannik besann sich nach einer kurzen Pause wieder auf sei­ne Stärken und zeigte im Matchtiebreak keine Gnade. Mit 10:1 endete dieser, so dass nun noch ein Punkt zum vorzeitigen Heimsieg fehlte. Im letzten Einzel des Tages brachte Thomas dann tatsächlich seine Mannen auf die Siegerstraße. Mit 6:3 und 7:5 konnte er sich durch die zu­meist langen Ballwechsel kämpfen und belohnte damit sich und auch sein Team mit dem fünften Einzelpunkt des Tages. Durch den Zwischenstand von 5:1 war der Heimsieg und damit verbunden auch der Klassenerhalt in trockenen Tüchern - die Freude und Erleichterung war groß! Und dennoch wollten die Jungs aus Großbett-lingen dem heimischen Publikum noch etwas bieten. Bei den drei noch zu spie­lenden Doppeln spielten Mati und Jannik im Doppel 1, Luca und Marcel im Doppel 2 und Thomas mit Mike (er ersetzte Andi) im Doppel 3.

Das Doppel 1 lieferte sich auf hohem Ni­veau einen wahren Schlagabtausch und sorgte für beste Tennisunterhaltung. Mit 7:6, 6:7 und 4:10 ging der Punkt allerdings am Ende an die gut aufspielenden Gäste. Das Doppel 2 dominierte von Beginn an die Ballwechsel und konnte nach souve­ränem erstem Satz (6:1) auch den zweiten Durchgang mit 7:5 gewinnen. Das Doppel

3 zeigte ebenso eine couragierte Leistung mit Comeback-Qualität in Satz 2 und be­hielt mit 6:2 und 7:5 die Oberhand.

Damit war der 7:2-Heimsieg amtlich und beschlossene Sache. Durch den deut­lichen Heimsieg stehen die Jungs aus Großbettlingen nun unerwartet auf dem zweiten Platz der Tabelle. Der bisher un­geschlagene Tabellenführer aus Bern-hausen musste eine unerwartete Nieder­lage gegen Pliezhausen hinnehmen, so dass für die Bettlinger - theoretisch und gleichzeitig kurios - am letzten Spieltag in Bernhausen mit einem deutlichen Sieg sogar noch die Meisterschaft der Bezirk­soberliga möglich ist.

Last Sunday, July 23, 2023, the game was ready. The TVG boys played their last game of the season against championship favorites and league leaders TC Bernhausen.

Surprisingly, they arrived as second in the table, but the chance of overtaking Bernhausen with a win was rather slim. Nevertheless, they arrived highly motivated and wanted to finish the league round successfully.

In unpleasant weather conditions, which were mostly characterized by very strong winds, Luca Kleiß, Marcel Müllerschön and Andreas Trissler started with the singles. Luca had a hard time against his opponent from the start and found no suitable means to reward himself for his hard work throughout the match. In the end, Luca had to admit defeat with a clear 2:6 and 1:6. Marcel only fared much better in the first set. He started the game well and concentrated, but as the game progressed he realized that his opponent was becoming braver and was also adapting his style of play to the weather conditions. After Marcel was unable to capitalize on three set balls in the first set, he had to concede this one 5:7. In the second set, Marcel could only manage a 2:6, although there was much more in this set too. Andi did a completely different job, wanting to end his probably last game for the men's 1 team with a positive result. Andi really succeeded in doing so. With 6:0 and 6:0, Andi confidently kept the upper hand and never showed any weakness.

Mati Ezequiel in position 1 started the match as strong as usual, but then had to go to the net for a handshake when the score was 2-0. His opponent, who had moved up to the team with a view to the deciding match and was already injured, gave up. A bit of a shame for Mati, who would have liked to play against his equally highly ranked opponent. Mike had a really bitter day, unable to stand up to his opponent and losing 0-6 and 0-6. Unfortunately, he didn't find a suitable way to make his opponent uncomfortable throughout the whole match. In the last singles match of the day, Thomas had a similar experience to Marcel. The first set was characterized by long and hard-fought rallies - anything was possible! Nuances decided the first set, which ended 5-7 from Thomas's point of view. In the second set, Thomas also found no way to turn the tables. Set 2 ultimately ended 1-6. From Großbettlingen’s point of view, the doubles match started with a score of 2:4.

Luca and Mike played in doubles 1, Mati and Marcel in doubles 2 and Thomas and Andi in doubles 3. Doubles 1 delivered a great exchange of blows at a good level and ensured a balanced match, which was ultimately lost 5:7 and 3:6. After solos in the first set (6:4), doubles 2 also won the second set 7:6. Curiously, Mati's opponent, who had previously abandoned the singles, played the entire doubles to the end. Doubles 3 showed a courageous performance, but then had to admit defeat with unfortunate scores of 4:6 and 4:6.

So it was official, Bernhausen became champions, the boys from Bettlingen finished in third place in the table and thus achieved the best season result in the club's history.

The men's team 1 would like to thank all fans for their great support throughout the season and are already looking forward to what lies ahead, namely another year in the district league.
